Vicki Carr, M.D.

Dr. Carr completed dual training in Dermatology and Pediatrics. Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. She was the first in the country to complete a combined training program in Dermatology and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She was raised in Houston, Texas and attended college at the University of Texas at Austin. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was honored with membership in the AOA, the medical honor society. During her residency training, she was voted Best Resident by her peers, and was a resident member of the Camp Discovery Committee through the American Academy of Dermatology, where she volunteered for the children’s camp during her summers. Dr. Carr’s interest is adult and pediatric dermatology as well as skin cancer surgery and cosmetics. Dr. Carr enjoys baking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her husband and 2 kids.

Tarek Fakhouri, M.D.

Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri, is a Fellowship-Trained MOHS Surgeon, is board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of MOHS Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He specializes in the treatment of skin cancer and aesthetic reconstruction. Dr Tarek M. Fakhouri attended Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in economics and molecular biology and was inducted into the Omicron Delta Epsilon national economics honor society. After completing his masters in medical science, he received his doctorate in medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. During medical school he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated with high distinction. He completed his internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he served as chief resident of his internship class and was awarded the Chief’s Award by the internal medicine department. Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri then completed his dermatology residency at Wayne State University Department of Dermatology. Following residency, Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri completed a fellowship in procedural dermatology at Surgical Dermatology Group in Birmingham, where he performed and assisted in thousands of cases of MOHS Micrographic Surgery with advanced reconstructions. He has extensive training in a variety of cosmetic and laser procedures. Dr. Fakhouri was director of MOHS surgery at Wayne State University’s Department of Dermatology. He provided MOHS surgery services for Wayne State University Physician Group’s network of 600 doctors as well as for our nation’s veterans at the John D. Dingell VA hospital in Detroit. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, the outdoors, weight lifting, and obsessing over college football.

Tayler Parker, MD

Dr. Tayler Parker, MD completed her dermatology residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center program. She grew up in West Texas and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She attended medical school at McGovern Medical School in Houston and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and served as the Vice President of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she was named Intern of the Year. She served as cosmetic chief resident in her dermatology residency program. She specializes in general, cosmetics, and surgical dermatology. She enjoys exploring new restaurants with friends and her husband, walking with her dog, reading, traveling, and cooking.

Alex Espana, PA-C

Alex Espana, PA-C, is a physician assistant (PA) at Spring Dermatology. Alex is originally from New York City but moved to Texas to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Rice University. He then received his master’s degree in PA studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board. He has also completed the diplomate fellowship program through the Society of Dermatology PAs. Out of the office, Alex enjoys running, movies, and arts and culture.

Jeri Smith, PA-C

I am a West Texas native and earned my bachelors degree in Biology at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa. I returned to my hometown of Abilene, Texas to earn my Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Hardin Simmons University, where I graduated in 2019. I have worked in dermatology since this time and have loved every minute! My favorite aspects of dermatology include the wide variety of conditions seen on a regular basis and the privilege of working with many people of different backgrounds and needs. During my time off I enjoy lifting weights, hiking, hunting, and spending time with my wonderful husband and our two sons.
